Tom Cruise Returns In His Final ‘Mission: Impossible’ Movie ‘The Final Reckoning’

Tom Cruise Returns In His Final 'Mission: Impossible' Movie 'The Final Reckoning'Fans are convinced that when Tom Cruise’s Ethan Hunt says, “I need you to trust me one last time” in the teaser, he’s talking to the audience. And well, the audience look like they’re ready to trust him to deliver one more insanely thrilling performance.

‘Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning’ Teaser Shows Super Spy Ethan Hunt Participate In A High Stakes Mission

“Our lives are not defined by any one action. Our lives are the sum of our choices. Everything we are, everything we’ve done has come to this,” a voice narrates at the beginning of the teaser trailer, as we see Cruise’s character Hunt running from enemies that may be bigger than all the others he’s battled combined.

As always, Hunt is trying to outrun his enemies – literally – even though they come at him with guns and helicopters.

The action-packed teaser sees the return of some of our favorite characters, including Angela Bassett’s CIA Director Erika Sloane and Simon Pegg.

“For every life we try to save, we gamble millions more,” the narrator says as we’re shown some of Cruise’s friends who have been by his side from day one.

The big thing that all their different choices have led to is an AI program called Entity.

Not only can Entity cause a global disaster should it fall into the wrong hands, but it can seemingly predict his every move. For once, something can match the super spy’s wit and even keep miles ahead of him easily.

Hunt is going to need all the help, and possibly all the trust, he can get to be able to take Entity down. ‘The Final Reckoning’ is now the working title of the movie that was originally slated to be the ‘Part Two’ to 2023’s ‘Dead Reckoning.’

It’s scheduled to be released in May 23, 2025, with director and co-writer Christopher McQuarrie returning. McQuarrie also helmed ‘Rogue Nation,’ Fallout’ and ‘Dead Reckoning,’ so the movie’s fast-paced espionage world is not new to him.

This comes after the underwhelming performance of the seventh movie in the franchise, ‘Dead Reckoning.’ Despite the relatively low fan interest, the upcoming installment comes with a hefty $400m price tag.

Since this is speculated to be Cruise’s last return as Hunt, I hope they give his character a better ending than Daniel Craig’s James Bond, who was killed in his last hurrah, ‘James Bond: No Time To Die.’
