Oh, for the love of misunderstanding! So, the viral photo of Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson yelling at an unknown man on the red carpet of Cannes Film Festival caused quite a stir online that Wilson finally said enough, I’m setting the record straight.
The picture which was taken at the premiere of their new film “Asteroid City” featured both husband and wife looking very angry as they each raised their fingers in a manner that suggests an issuance of warning to the unidentified man.
The photo made rounds on Tuesday evening, May 23, and on Wednesday, May 24, Wilson took to her social media to correct the misunderstanding.
Tom Hanks — Rita Wilson Explains The Picture Saga
Taking to her Instagram story, Wilson posted a screenshot of one of the trending news articles with the caption, “Tom Hanks and wife Rita Wilson remonstrate with a red carpet staffer as they attend the 76 Cannes Film Festival premiere of Asteroid City.”
On top of the place which had their controversial photo, Wilson explained, “This is called I can’t hear you. People are screaming. What did you say? Where are we supposed to go?”
She went on to imply that she already knew that the media twisted the narrative for its benefit. “But that doesn’t sell stories! Nice try.” Despite it all, the Hollywood couple enjoyed themselves. “We had a great time! Go see Asteroid City!”
Even though the air has been cleared on the misunderstanding, and once again there’s proof that not everything is as it seems, one can’t help but wonder if the initial conclusion around the photo was drawn due to Hanks’ earlier confession of not always being an easy person to work with.
Tom Hanks — Hanks’ Confession Of Being A Jerk At Work
Early this month, the star of “The Terminal” confessed that sometimes even Mr. Nice Guy can be imperfect.
During the promotion of his debut novel “The Making of Another Major Motion Picture Masterpiece” on “BBC,” a novel centered on his career as a superhero in Hollywood, Hanks revealed that he’s not always fun and merry on set, sometimes he’s a jerk.
The 66-year-old actor told the outlet, “I have pulled every single one of those moments of behavior myself on a set. Not everybody is at their best every single day on a motion picture set.”
“I’ve had tough days trying to be a professional when my life has been falling apart in more ways than one and the requirement for me that day is to be funny, charming and loving — and it’s the last way I feel,” said Hanks.
