Top Gun 3 Enters Development At Paramount Following Tom Cruise’s Unique Deal

There’s a lot in store for Tom Cruise in 2024, from a movie that will take him out to space, to another “Mission Impossible” installment, and of course you’ve heard about the astounding multi-year deal he just signed with Warner Bros.

As if that isn’t too much for one man to juggle, a third movie in the “Top Gun: Maverick” franchise is being planned. Can we just rename 2024 to Tom Cruise’s year already?

When it comes to filling up our thrill meter with high-octane chase – this time in the air! – we can always depend on “Top Gun” to deliver.

Even though decades stood in between the first movie and its sequel, fans happily don’t have to wait that long to see their favorite characters dodging death by inches again.

A script is already being written by Ehren Kruger for this next installment, even though it’s still in its early stages.

At the moment, there’s no deals in place yet, but the plan is to bring the original producers, namely Cruise, Jerry Bruckheimer and director Joseph Kosinski, together again for the sequel.

CNN reported that Cruise’s younger co-stars, Miles Teller and Glen Powell, would likely be back.
Developing another movie to add to the blockbuster franchise is not rocket science, given the amount of money it made for the creators.

In fact, write this down, 2022’s “Top Gun: Maverick” is the highest selling movie of Cruise’s career, grossing over $1.5 billion and earning six Oscar nominations, including for best picture and adapted screenplay (the movie ended up winning one Academy Award for sound).

The news that Cruise will be reprising his role in “Top Gun” comes on the heels of his signing with Warner Bros.

The multi-year deal will not only see Cruise produce movies for the studios, but star in them as well in what was termed a “strategic partnership.”

“I have great respect and admiration for David, Pam, Mike, and the entire team at Warner Bros. Discovery and their commitment to movies, movie fans, and the theatrical experience,” Cruise said of his Warner Bros. deal. “I look forward to making great movies together!”
