Toya Johnson Shares Upcoming Disney ‘Power of Joy’ Experience At Essence Fest

Toya Johnson-Rushing brought some Disney magic to her social media this week as she shared a behind-the-scenes look at her upcoming appearance at the “Power of Joy” experience during Essence Fest.

The Tiny and Toya alum posted on Instagram on Tuesday, giving fans a peek at the joyful moment. In her caption, she wrote:

Disney sprinkled a little magic my way! ✨ So honored to be part of the Power of Joy experience at Essence Fest this year. Let’s make memories! ”

The post included a video of Toya unboxing a gift pack that looked like it would cheer the heart of fans of all ages. Inside were Minnie Mouse ears, a sparkly Minnie headband, a travel tumbler, a soft plane blanket, a small travel bag, and a Pandora bracelet.  

Toya’s Fans Caught The Vibe

Clearly, Toya’s fans caught the vibe of happiness and joy judging by the comments. One of her 12.5 million followers commented, “Awwww I just know it’s gonna be so much fun!!! I hope you enjoy.”

Another one joked, “Now wait Toya! Are you enjoying that more than Reign?”

Meanwhile another one added, “Going to be a ball,” while someone else chimed in with, “Awww my babies would love this.”

The Power Of Joy Fest

The Power of Joy experience is a returning event at the Essence Festival, which runs from July 3 to July 6, 2025 in New Orleans. Sponsored by Disney, it’s designed to celebrate culture, creativity, and connection in the Black community. The action includes live performances, celebrity appearances, wellness spaces, and branded gift moments like the one Toya showed off in her reel.

Toya Johnson, who was born and raised in New Orleans, will be participating in the event in her hometown. Known for her work on BET’s Tiny and Toya and Toya & Reginae, she’s also a business owner, author, and mom to two daughters. Her marriage to Robert Rushing and their family life, especially with youngest daughter Reign, frequently features on social media and reality TV.
