Twitter Users Are In Frenzy Over Johnny Depp’s Latest Gig

Ever since Johnny Depp won his defamation lawsuit against ex-wife Amber Heard in which he stated that, after Heard accused him of being a wife beater, he had lost so many movie gigs, Depp has had several offers from several companies seeking his expertise to work with them.

Depp will also feature in an upcoming French movie titled “La Favorite.” He will be playing the role of King Louis XV in the film which will be directed by French director Maïwenn.

Recently, TMZ revealed that the “Murder On The Orient Express” actor will be making a cameo at singer Rihanna’s upcoming Savage X Fenty fashion show. It was reported that Depp will be spotting an outfit from the men’s collection of the Fenty brand but won’t be walking on a runway.

To think that half of the world was in support of Depp during his defamation case, and even rejoiced with him when he emerged victorious, is something good. But, to see their reaction to Depp moving on with his life, and getting endorsement deals after all, is something else.

When the news that the “Man Down” singer invited the star of “Dark Shadows” to cameo in her fashion show, tweeter users went into frenzy. They couldn’t help but wonder why Rihanna had to choose Depp out of several other celebrities out there. They also wondered why she had to pick Depp after Depp’s reputation has been soiled as a result of the defamation case.

Someone wrote, “Rihanna going out of her way to, like, rehabilitate the image of a domestic abuser and rapist is f****** crazy cause the hell is Johnny Depp, a rapidly decaying corpse, going to do at a LINGERIE SHOW.”

Another concurred with, “The thing about casting Johnny Depp in a fashion show is that he’s very much ugly and not aligned with the brand. Just bloated and crusty and gross. So the only reason to do it would be that you’re going out of your way to be ‘controversial’ and nasty.”

Some else commented, “I don’t think Rihanna cares about backlash, but I hope it’s strong enough that her team will be like … Woah, maybe this isn’t a good idea.”

The story here is that a Judge in Fairfax County, Virginia sided with Johnny Depp and awarded him $15 Million for damages that Heard is to pay for being found guilty of defaming Depp.

The judge, later on, reduced the punitive damages to $350,000, according to Fairfax County legal limit, making his total damages less than $10.4 million.

Depp is also to pay $2 Million to Heard for damages, and that’s because Depp was also found guilty of defaming Heard during the defamation trial in which he sued his ex-wife Amber Heard for calling him a wife beater in her 2018 Washington Op-ed Post. Although Heard didn’t mention Depp’s name in the post, Depp said he lost a lot of film jobs due to it.
