Valerie Bertinelli Starts A Trend that Gets Kathy Griffin Kicked Off Of Twitter

It’s not a drill guys, Twitter is really going to be rolling out a verification service that costs $8/month to use. This means that the blue checkmark will no longer be a privilege almost always obtained by celebrities and public figures. The average Twitter user can now get the chance to go blue. All you need is to pay your $8.

Valerie Bertinelli – Impersonates Elon Musk For A Day

Comedy is indeed now legal on Twitter, as Valerie Bertinelli went on a tweeting spree posing as the social media platform’s “Chief Twit”. It was fun while it lasted, but Elon Musk has warned that anyone who pulls off a stunt like Bertinelli’s will be permanently suspended on the platform.

Already, there’s been casualties of war, as Kathy Griffin got her account suspended because she changed her username to Elon Musk and impersonated the multi-billionaire. Needless to say the richest man on Earth was not impressed by her performance and blocked her account, which had over 2 million followers.

However, Bertinelli herself seems to have escaped unscathed and made her point while she was at it.

“The blue checkmark simply meant your identity was verified. Scammers would have a harder time impersonating you,” Bertinelli tweeted on Saturday, “That no longer applies. Good luck out there!”

She then proceeded to tweet various political hashtags supporting democrats and retweeting articles about the midterm elections throughout the day under Musk’s name.

This rebellion managed to fool dozens of Twitter users who questioned Musk’s reason behind the political messages.

On Sunday, the “One Day At A Time” star revealed that she’s finally had enough fun and that she’s gotten her message across. “Okey-dokey I’ve had my fun and I think I made my point.”

Elon Musk – Responds To Bertinelli’s Concern About Impersonation On Twitter

Bertinelli’s comical protest got fans wondering what would happen if someone impersonated an already verified profile.

Musk then replied that said impersonator would be blocked, without their money being returned to them. He said that as long as scammers continued to do this, they will be giving the platform “a whole bunch of free money.”

On Saturday, Twitter officially rolled out its new paid plan for the blue verification system. The press release read that users can now get the “blue check mark, just like the celebrities, companies, and politicians you already follow.”

Due to the midterm elections in the US, the company has decided to delay its rollout of the paid verification system.
