Victoria Beckham Worried About Daughter Harper Joining Social Media

Oh, what a mother! Victoria really means well for her children especially her only daughter Harper. It’s true we now live in a world where social media has taken up almost everything about our lives, it has taken over our looks, beliefs, the way we talk, feel, etc., Victoria is a concerned parent who doesn’t want the bad side of social media to affect her daughter.

I truly understand Victoria’s fears, honestly, every well-meaning mother would, especially as what most people do on social media lately is hide behind their keyboards to type away demeaning and depressing words to other people without caring how harmful their words can hurt someone else. People hide behind their phone screens and laptops to be arrogant cyber-bullies, most times with the sole purpose to create pain for their targets.

As much as 10-year-old Harper is not yet on social media, Victoria really dreads the day Harper finally joins it. The “Viva Forever” singer revealed she’s worried about online trolls body-shaming her daughter. “Harper isn’t on social media, so we don’t have to worry about [body-shaming] just yet,” Victoria, who has four kids with husband David Beckham, told Vogue Australia in an interview published Sunday. “But seeing how cruel people can be, yes, it really does [concern me].”

Noting that Harper is gradually going into puberty, she hopes they communicate a lot when that time comes and also hopes Harper surrounds herself with good people that will influence her positively. “She’s at that age where her body is going to start changing, but it’s about making sure that we communicate a lot as a family and she surrounds herself with nice friends,” she said, adding, “But it is quite terrifying, I can’t lie.”

While Harper hasn’t joined the team of social media users yet, you can rest easy knowing that searching for befitting captions for her uploads won’t be necessary because writing comes easy for her.

Sometime last year, when Harper was 9 years old, Victoria took to her Instagram account to share a letter that Harper wrote her before bedtime: “Dear mummy, I love you so much and you are my best friend ever,” Harper wrote. “I love when we always do our makeup together you are my heart and I love you Sleep well sweet dreams Love Harper.”

Oh, but Harper didn’t stop there, she also wrote one for her dad David Beckham as well “Dear daddy, I hope you have a great sleep and the best friends,” the letter read. “You worked so hard at work today and I am so proud of you love you so much Sleep well.”

Victoria also explained that her only daughter is in no hurry to grow up and enjoys dressing her age. “She’s not one of these kids who are going out with a full face of makeup and a crop top,” the former Spice Girl said. “She actually said to me recently, ‘Mummy, I’ve seen some pictures of you when you were in the Spice Girls, and your skirts were just unacceptable. They were just too short.’ Then David piped up and said, ‘Absolutely, Harper! They really, really were.’ And she was actually quite disgusted at how short my skirts were.

“I said, ‘Are you never going to wear skirts like that?’ She said, ‘Absolutely not.’ We’ll see.”
