What Is Wayne Brady’s Upcoming Reality TV Show All About

Wayne Brady’s freeform series promises to bring fans into the inner-workings of the TV personality’s life. The selling line is that the show, titled “Wayne Brady: The Family Remix,” will turn “the term ‘modern family’ on its head.”

On Thursday, Freeform officially shared the news that Wayne, 51, will be starring alongside his family in an all-new reality series.

Set to premiere this summer, the series will take fans behind the curtains to give them a well-rounded view of what life is like for “the man seen onstage.”

Apart from his personal life, the show is also set to explore Brady’s professional life as a comedian, actor, singer, and host.

“What happens when such an iconic entertainer peels back the curtain on the realities of an unexpected life? In Wayne Brady: The Family Remix, Brady has turned the term ‘modern family’ on its head,” the official synopsis reads.

The show will follow Brady and his blended family with ex-wife Mandie Taketa, who he co-parents their 21-year-old daughter, Maile Brady, with.

Here’s the twist: Brady is also involved in Brady’s 3-year-old son’s life, even though he’s not the father. Taketa welcomed Sundance-Isamu with Jason Fordham, her “life partner since 2009.”

To show you just how chill this blended family is, Fordham works alongside Brady and Taketa to run their joint production company, A Wayne & Mandie Creative, where he works as a cinematographer. I mean, whaaat?

“With Brady at a sudden crossroads in his life, Wayne Brady: The Family Remix offers an intimate look into his blended family’s personal life, revealing unexpected points of view and values that most people (including his own family) have a hard time understanding,” the synopsis continues. “People see their social media posts — from vacations to dancing in TikToks — but what’s behind the joyful 15 seconds of fun? Their real life is not always as easy and as simple as it seems.”

Even though Brady and Mandie have been divorced for over ten years, he still calls her his “soulmate,” “best friend” and “ride or die.”

The show will premiere on Hulu and Freeform on July 24, and as Brady boldly claims, “You’ve never seen a family like ours. Trust me.”
