Caleb Williams is going pink and no hater or critic will back him into a corner. While he does that to honor his mother, who is a former nail technician, he’s also proud of his glittering nails.
Caleb Williams – Says Lips Are Pink in Clap Back: “Your Girl Love ‘Em”
Earlier this week, Williams went viral for rocking pink nails, lip gloss and phone. His look at the USC-Kansas women’s NCAA Tournament game, as he supported his fellow USC athletes and their postseason run in the NCAA Tournament, drew widespread attention.
So this happened on Monday, with the 22-year-old Heisman Trophy winner seen on camera smiling and rocking to Earth, Wind & Fire, while moving his hands back and forth.
Fans were quick to spot that his nails were pink, his phone was pink and he boldly held a white Goyard wallet.
As a result of the backlash that ensued, Williams, who is considered the No. 1 pick of the 2024 NFL Draft, decided to clap back in a short clip shared on X.
“It’s been a long week for you,” Gavin Morris, USC’s assistant athletic director joked to Williams in the clip.
“Let’s see what that phone look like, what the phone look like?” Morris asked.
The quarterback then held up his wallet, saying, “The wallet’s white. The phone is pink, the case is clear.”
He then added: “Nails are clear.”
Leaning into the camera, he kindly set the naysayers in their place by saying, “Lips are pink — your girl love ‘em!” As Morris roared with laughter, he dropped his mic.
Williams has never hidden his surprising style from the world. Yes, he knows it’s not what one would expect from a football star, but it is what it is.
“I think the nails thing kind of took everybody by surprise,” he told PEOPLE during an August interview. “I’ve been doing it before college, but it took everybody by surprise, just because you don’t always see male athletes who play football paint their nails. But I think it’s just another way of expression.”
