Whoopi Goldberg Reveals Her Dream Role And It’s Surprising

Over the years, Whoopi Goldberg has played a lot of interesting characters, from an amateur singer posing as a nun – re “Sister Act” – to an ex-convict who can talk to ghosts. But she hasn’t quite landed her dream role yet, and believe me, it’s a shocking one.

One reason we love Goldberg is that she tells it like it is. If she wants to be the monster, she will not be shutting up about it.

Goldberg’s latest revelation comes after some absence from ‘The View‘ as she recovered from a bout of covid.

As she interviewed stars Glen Powell and Daisy Edgar-Jones on this Thursday episode of the show, the 68-year-old giddily shared that she would find her perfect dream role in no other genre but horror.

“Playing a villain is wonderful. You’re the last person people are thinking. That’s why I love horror,” she said. This revelation came after Daisy Edgar-Jones expressed interest in playing “a villain” or “someone really evil.”

Goldberg added: “I keep saying I want to do a horror film because you would never think of me as the monster.”

Cohost Sara Haines then chimed in to ask, “You want to be the horror?” Goldberg didn’t miss a bit before responding, “I want to be the horror!”

Throughout her long and successful career, Goldberg has thrilled audiences with her beautiful performances, from 1992’s ‘The Player,’ 1998’s ‘How Stella Got Her Groove Back,’ 1990’s ‘The Long Walk Home,’ to more recent ones like 2022’s ‘Till.’ She also got to taste some villainous chaos when she voiced hyena Shenzi in Disney’s ‘The Lion King’ classic.

One of Goldberg’s most beloved and popular movies, ‘Sister Act,’ will soon be returning for a sequel. The first two movies saw Goldberg star as Deloris Van Cartier, who goes undercover in a convent as Sister Mary Clarence so that she can stay alive long enough to testify against her criminal lover.

“I can say it’s coming,” Goldberg told Entertainment Tonight earlier this year. “It’s coming around the mountain when it comes. It’ll be here soon. I’m excited. It’s time for it, you know, it’s time.”
