Mel Gibson has found himself as a witness in Harvey Weinstein’s upcoming rape case which its trial began last week. Before I dive into why Mel would be testifying, let me first of all explain who Harvey Weinstein is and how the rape case came to be. Harvey, 70, is an American movie producer, and a co-founder of Miramax which he founded with his brother Bob Weinstein.
Two years ago, in the year 2020, Harvey was sentenced to 23 years in prison for rape and criminal sexual assault in his New York trial. Harvey has a record of over 90 women who have accused him of sexual assault and harassment. Harvey who is currently in an unhealthy state has served two years in jail, it’s remaining 21 years for the completion of his jail term. Harvey currently faces 11 charges in his Los Angeles trial, the charges include one count of sexual penetration with a foreign object by force, four counts of rape, and forcible oral copulation with five different women between the years 2004 through 2013 both in Los Angeles and Beverly Hills.
Mel Gibson — Brief On The Harvey Weinstein’s Accusers
Harvey’s accusers are five different women who chose to be kept anonymous and at such are being identified in court as Jane Does 1 through 5. The story of the 5 women had one thing in common, Harvey invited them to his hotel room and tries to harass them sexually. One of Harvey’s accusers who testified during Harvey’s New York trial said that in the year 2013, Harvey invited him to his hotel room, trapped her in the bathroom of the hotel, grabbed and pinched her breasts while he masturbated, she said she fled the hotel at the slighted opening she saw.
The next accuser told The Los Angeles Times in 2017 that the assault happened in the year 2013 at a hotel in Beverly Hills where Harvey invited her to, she said that Harvey forcefully had oral sex and intercourse with her. The accuser said that Harvey “grabbed me by the hair and forced me to do something I did not want to do.”
Remember I said that Harvey has a record of over 90 women who have accused him of sexual assault and harassment, it so happens that Ashley Judd was also part of his victims. According to the actress, Harvey invited her to a hotel in Beverly Hills, she innocently accepted, thinking it was a business meeting that would be held over breakfast, only for her to arrive and was sent to Harvey’s hotel room where Harvey appeared in a bathrobe asking her if he could massage her or if she could watch him as he showers.
Mel Gibson — Reason Mel Gibson Would Testify In Harvey’s Rape Case
As it stands Mel is a friend to one of the accusers, Jane Doe 3. According to Jane Doe 3, in 2010, Harvey sexually assaulted her in a hotel, the incident took place after she sent Harvey a message. After the sexual assault by Harvey, she detailed her experience to her friend Mel Gibson. On Friday, Oct. 14, a judge ruled that Mel will stand to testify at Harvey’s upcoming rape trial.

When Harvey’s lawyer Mark Werksman heard that Mel will be testifying against Harvey, he argued against the judge’s decision claiming that Mel and Harvey has had several issues in the past and it all started with “The Passion of the Christ” Mark asked that the defense be allowed to find out from Mel the reason behind the racist and antisemitic comments Mel previously made. The judge ruled against Mark’s argument.
Mel’s presence and testimony in Harvey’s rape case would have a major impact on the already appeal Harvey made regarding the New York trial. If Jane Doe 3’s story checkout, it will affect Harvey’s appeal on the New York trial.
