As a result, Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith’s niece Jade decided to share her own narrative about nepotism.

Jade shared that she grew up without understanding her family’s fame at first. But then she began to attend parties and premieres. And Jade soon noticed how her family got treated differently, she said on an episode of More Than A Name via E News.

As a member of one of the entertainment industry’s most famous families, Jade says she worked hard to make a name for herself as a professional dancer and model. And she emphasized that she did not receive any jobs automatically. Instead, Jade auditioned for her opportunities.

But the professional dancer/model also denies that she took advantage of nepotism. And she empathized, “I also just had to go get it.” For instance, Jade recalled her first dancing gig, “Whip My Hair.” However, although that 2010 hit song came from Jade’s cousin Willow Smith, the dancer “had to audition for it.”

And looking back on auditioning for her cousin’s song, Jade admits she felt “super nervous.” But that experience represented her first audition. “Because I think I was about 16,” recalled the model/dancer of her reasons for her nerves. “And it was my first audition in the professional world.”

However, that first gig in the video led to more. And Jade experienced a turning point with one music video in particular. “When I got Drake and Future’s ‘Way 2 Sexy’ [music video], I was like, ‘Wow this is what it’s really about. Staying persistent and keeping faith and never giving up,'” she revealed.

But Jade also feels extra pressure because of her family’s fame. And the dancer/model shared that she uses that stress to progress. “It’s just something that makes me glow harder,” Jade shared. “My whole life people have underestimated me because of my name. People think that I get these jobs because I’m related to this person,” she added. “But the reality is I have to work 10 times harder.”
