Will Smith’s exciting new solo venture is a podcast called Class of ’88. It premiered on October 26, just days after Jada’s memoir “Worthy” hit the shelves. It is a solo venture produced in collaboration with Wondery, Audible, Westbrook, and Awfully Nice.

The podcast takes listeners back to one of the most important years in hip-hop’s history: 1988. More than being a host, Will talks about his personal life and experiences during hip-hop’s pivotal year.

Apart from the year being significant for hip-hop and redefining musical genres, it was a big transformative time in Will’s life. His collaboration with Jazzy Jeff, “Parents Just Don’t Understand,” made considerable waves during its release.
Smith may be more significantly known for his movie credits, having appeared across some of the biggest movies over the years, “Men in Black,” “iRobot,” and more recently, “Gemini Project” and 2022″s “Emancipation,” the iconic Hollywood actor hopes to open fans up to his musical career as well.
With Queen Latifah, Jazzy Jeff, DMC, Salt-N-Pepa, Fab Five Freddy, Rakim, and DJ Red Alert being 1988’s big Hip-hop players, there’s certainly a lot for him to explore.
Speaking to Billboard, he shared his enthusiasm for the project, saying, “Hip hop has been a profound influence on my life for over four decades.” He went on to say that the podcast will “delve deep into the origins and evolution of one of the most impactful music genres.”
