Will Smith experienced an immediate backlash after his Oscars meltdown. And even now, few celebrities support the actor who slapped Chris Rock at the Academy Awards. But just before she died, Lisa Marie Presley showed she cared.
Find out how the only child of rock ‘n’ roll legend Elvis Presley supported Will. And learn about her passing. Get all the details below.
Lisa Marie Presley – Supported Will Smith After Eddie Murphy Mocks
Will Smith’s meltdown at the Oscars happened in just a few minutes. And after Chris Rock joked about Will’s wife Jada Pinkett Smith, Will suddenly walked up to the stage and hit the comedian. Smith then returned to his chair and yelled profanities. But the aftermath of that scene continues to damage Will professionally and personally.
And at the 2023 Golden Globe Awards, Smith’s slap even became part of Eddie Murphy’s jokes. But amid the audience, Lisa Marie Presley heard Murphy mocking Smith. And in her last social media action on Twitter before she died, Lisa supported Will, according to Newsweek.
Lisa had attended the Golden Globe Awards with her mother. And the two cheered for the celebration of the 2022 biopic Elvis. The blockbuster dramatized the rock ‘n’ roll legend’s life.
But after the Golden Globes, Lisa took time to like several tweets related to the Golden Globes and Elvis. And the last tweet that she appreciated focused on Will Smith. “Will Smith in good spirits after Eddie Murphy jokes about infamous Oscars slap at Golden Globes,” noted the caption to a picture of the actor.
Eddie Murphy – Mocked Will Smith At Golden Globes
The Twitter post about Smith that Lisa Marie Presley noted referenced Eddie Murphy’s mockery about Will. And it came as Murphy accepted the Cecil B. DeMille Award. But amid his acceptance, Eddie announced his suggestions for succeeding in Hollywood.
“I’m talking to all the new, up-and-coming dreamers and artists in the room tonight. I want to let you know that there is a definitive blueprint that you can follow to achieve success, prosperity, longevity and peace of mind,” promised Murphy. And he added, “Just do these three things: pay your taxes, mind your business.” But Eddie raised his voice for his final recommendation. “And keep Will Smith’s wife’s name out your f****** mouth,” announced Murphy.
However, while Lisa seemed to enjoy attending that event with her mother, she suddenly died at age 54. Elvis Presley’s only child had experienced a cardiac arrest before paramedics rushed to the home where she reportedly collapsed. And after she died, her mother’s spokesperson offered a statement. “Priscilla Presley and the Presley family are shocked and devastated by the tragic death of their beloved Lisa Marie. They are profoundly grateful for the support, love, and prayers of everyone,” shared the spokesperson. But the family requested “privacy during this very difficult time.”
