Willie Nelson- Is Not Worried About Dying At All
Willie Nelson is not only a country outlaw, he is one tough cookie. In his Friday Nov. 1 interview, which he did in honor of the release of his 76th solo Studio album and 153rd album overall, ‘Last Leaf on the Tree,’ the 91-year-old got candid about making music at his advanced age.
In his latest chat with Associated Press, he revealed the reason he’s not worried about death at all.
“I’m 91 plus, so, you know, I’m not worried about it. I don’t feel bad. I don’t hurt anywhere. I don’t have any reason to worry about dying,” Nelson said, adding that he takes “pretty good care of myself.”
“And I feel like I’m in pretty good shape physically. Mentally? That’s another story,” he jokingly said.
His latest project arrived with 13 tracks, including two he wrote: “The Ghost” and “Color of Sound.” Nelson penned “Color of Sound” with his son, Micah, 34, who is also credited for writing the song “Wheels.”
If the time to say goodbye to this world does come, Nelson will be proud that he had a good run and was able to make music for as long as he did.
“I had a good time. And I did what I came here to do: make music,” said Nelson on what he’d like to be remembered by.
Willie Nelson Says Performing For An Audience Is What Keeps Him Going
Nelson has had a long and successful run as a country musician, and everything he did on the musical front will always be a source of pride and joy for him.
While most artists are retiring and doing their farewell tours in their 70s – latest 80s – Nelson is still looking forward to getting in front of an audience and doing what he does best.
Last year, the country icon sat down with PEOPLE for his 90th birthday interview and talked about his deep passion for performing.
“I get a lot of fun out of playing for an audience. There’s a great energy exchange there. It’s what keeps me going,” he told the outlet at the time.
