Y&R Eric Braeden Supports Alec Baldwin, See Statement

Eric Braeden Releases Statement

Eric Braeden is best known for his role as Victor Newman on The Young and the Restless. He typically talks about the show and other soap opera moments. But he took the time to support a fellow actor. Braeden doesn’t hold back when others have been wronged.

Alec Baldwin is currently on trial for the involuntary manslaughter of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of Rust. Braeden shared his support for Baldwin. He released a statement on social media.

“I am actually outraged that it has come to this,” Eric Braeden wrote. “I’ve been an actor since 1962. I’ve been on more sets with I’ve been on more sets with guns — used more guns in the various guest-starring roles I’ve played, always as the bad guy — [so I] know damn well that as actors, we are not responsible for whether the damn gun is loaded or not. The prop person comes to you. This has been the case for over 60 years for me.”

Braeden maintained Baldwin’s innocence. In his statement, he argued that it’s the prop person’s responsibility to ensure the gun isn’t loaded. Braeden exclaimed the prop gun shouldn’t have had one bullet in it.

“Otherwise, you play Russian roulette. That has been the case for 60 years in my career,” Braeden continued. “Alec Baldwin I don’t think is used to doing a lot of action films, so he was assured when he was given the gun, I’m certain. ‘There’s no bullet in there.’ Why the hell would he otherwise take it? Are you nuts?”

Association With Alec Baldwin

Eric Braeden doesn’t have a personal friendship with Alec Baldwin. He admitted that he knows him “peripherally.” The 30 rock star played Billy Aldrich on the daytime drama The Doctors before he moved onto primetime. He also appeared on the classic soap, Knots Landing.

Baldwin and his wife Hilaria are currently filming a TLC reality series about their life. The new show won’t include the Rust trial. Also, their kids will not be in court, despite recent claims.
