It’s been 51 years since its television debut, and eight years since the show’s cancellation. It was announced before Christmas that a primetime reboot of the AMC is in development.

Tentatively titled “Pine Valley,” the project is headed up by former AMC co-stars and real-life It Couple Kelly Ripa (ex-Hayley Vaughan Santos; “Live with Kelly and Ryan”) and Mark Consuelos (ex-Mateo Santos). They are listed as executive producers with Andrew Stearn and Robert Nixon, son of the late Agnes Nixon, the creator of AMC and One Life to Live.

The potential series follows along as a young journalist comes to Pine Valley in search of a story and becomes involved in a feud between the Kane and Santos families.

All My Children Spoilers – The Reboot is Titled Pine Valley

According to Deadline, a new generation of characters and some old favorites will appear in the project, with Ripa and Consuelos primed for cameos if Pine Valley gets the green light.

Susan Lucci was the only original cast member to remain on the show through its final 41st season on ABC. Lucci portrayed Erica Kane on the soap and the fact that the show is set to feature the Kane and Santos families means there is great hope that La Lucci will be seen in the reboot.

Stearns is a lifelong fan of AMC and wanted to reboot the classis show. After signing a production deal with ABC Signature Studios things reportedly came together quickly in terms of a reboot and Stearns began securing the rights to the show’s characters.

Prospect Park Networks launched an online reboot of both AMC and OLTL. Both series were altered drastically in terms of cast and storylines and the reboots were controversial among fans. Both series died early deaths.
