Susan Lucci – To Receive Lifetime Achievement Award

The 50th Annual Daytime Awards will feature Susan Lucci this year. And the legendary star will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award at the event. But when the ceremony airs on December 15, The Young And The Restless alum Shemar Moore will present the award to Susan, per People.

And Lucci expressed her emotions about receiving the award. “I am truly humbled to receive this esteemed award from the Academy,” gushed Susan. “Throughout my career, I have been incredibly fortunate to work alongside exceptional talents and embraced by my fans that have been with me every step of the way.”

And the actress noted that she sees the honor as more than “a reflection of my journey. But [it represents] a testament to the enduring power of storytelling and the profound connection,” she added. And Susan expressed gratitude for connecting “with audiences all over the world through television.”

Susan Lucci – Received Big Break On All My Children

Now 76, Susan received her opportunity to become the queen of daytime TV with the role of Erica Kane on All My Children in 1970. And she earned a total of 21 nominations at the Daytime Emmy Awards amid her 41 years playing that role. All My Children ended in 2011. 

1978 marked Lucci’s first Daytime Emmy nomination for outstanding lead actress in a drama series. And after 19 nominations, Susan won in 1999. But Moore, who presented the award, couldn’t resist joking, “The streak is over!”

And in addition to All My Children, Lucci starred in Broadway plays and other TV shows. For instance, the actress starred in the 1999 Broadway production of Annie Get Your Gun. And she appeared on Hot in Cleveland, Dallas, Army Wives and Devious Maids. Susan even competed in 2008 on Dancing with the Stars.

Daytime Emmy Awards Airs This Month

A New York Times bestselling author, Lucci also has become devoted to charitable causes. Those include United Cerebral Palsy of NYC, the National AFib Campaign, March of Dimes, the New York Cancer Project, the American Stroke Association, and the American Heart Association.

And Lucci has two children, a son Andreas Huber and a daughter Liza Huber. Last year, Susan’s husband Helmut Huber died at age 84. But Lucci has experienced her own health challenges, recovering this year from her second heart surgery in four years.

“I’m doing really well. I always keep an eye on myself, what’s going on,” Lucci shared after her recovery. “It is so far so good.” The 50th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards air Friday, Dec. 15 at 9 p.m. ET on CBS.
