Kelly Ripa Spills on Why an ‘All My Children’ Reboot Keeps Hitting Roadblocks

All My Children (AMC) alum and LIVE morning talk show host, Kelly Ripa, recently appeared on the Soapy podcast, where she admitted to some roadblocks where the AMC reboot was concerned. More on this, below.

Kelly Ripa’s Reboot Update

Ripa was the guest for the November 25 edition of the Soapy podcast, hosted by The Bold and the Beautiful’s Rebecca Budig (Dr. Taylor Hayes) and Days of Our Lives’ Greg Rikaart (Leo Stark). Budig was also once on AMC, too.

Ripa and her hubby, Mark Consuelos (fellow AMC alum – the two met on the set), had announced a reboot was in the works for All My Children back in 2020.

Ripa offered an update on this; however, she confessed that the project has had its fair share of roadblocks. Ripa tells Budig and Rikaart, “We’ve been working on it for so long. It’s really out of our hands. It’s in other people’s hands.”

Ripa added that there are obstacles like “corporate structuring” and “new management”. The talk show host and actress noted, “… then the project falls down, and then there’s like renewed interest, and then, oh, the person championing this was let go, and you’re like, ‘Oh, no.’”

She went on to say, “So it’s like one of these things that has never gone away.”

Why An AMC Reboot? 

Budig did ask Ripa why she was interested in spearheading a reboot, to which Ripa replied that, “… we love soaps. I think it’s the greatest thing for actors to have.”

She noted that her time with AMC positively shaped her as an actress, and she discovered she was a better employee in every aspect of her life because of her time on daytime drama.

Ripa and Consuelos met and fell in love on AMC, playing onscreen couple Hayley Vaughan and Mateo Santos. The two tied the knot in May 1996 and have been together since, and share three (adult) children.
