Curtis Delamere (Sam Retford) will finally reach a dead end when fiancée Emma Brooker (Alexandra Mardell) discovers that his long-term heart condition is actually fictional and confronts him with it. Is this the end of their relationship?
Curtis is Emma’s dream come true as she’s never been lucky in love on the cobbles so when Curtis proposed to her, Emma agreed to maximize his remaining life with her despite uncertainties as they say his illness is incurable.
As their wedding day nears, Emma is anxious if she’s taken the right path but still manages the preparations to make sure Curtis gets the best of his remaining days, oblivious to the fact that his illness is fake.
Last week, Curtis made a trip to the doctors where he received an alarming diagnosis. The doctor revealed he is physically well, but he needs intervention from a psychologist for he’s suffering from a serious mental disorder called a factitious disorder. How will Curtis handle the truth?

The actor has revealed that Emma will eventually discover Curtis isn’t dying but feigning his illness when she learns that the medication pills he’s taking are actually just vitamins, which will air on December 13.
Talking about the intense exchange, Sam Retford told the media that Curtis will attempt to lie his way out in order to anchor their relationship but Emma breaks her down.
“To the point where he feels able enough to be honest with her. I think it’s the first time he’s been honest in his entire life, so that was a beautiful moment to play with Ali,” Sam told Digital Spy.
‘Coronation Street’ Spoilers – Emma Booker Walks Away Or Stays
Whether Emma walks away or stays in the relationship is something that viewers need not worry about as Retford confessed Emma stands in the mature realm of their romance. Although she’s allowed to sit with the hard truth, Emma still loves him and she’s willing to stand with and extend help to him.
“I think that’s really beautiful and de-villainises his disorder immensely,” he added.
But is there still hope for Curtis to recover from this disorder? Sam hinted it will be challenging as Curtis has been doing this for 22 long years so it’s impossible to let go of it in a blink.
“I think he wants it but it’s only really possible with other people there to help you,” he revealed.
But Curtis’ diagnosis will be a huge blow to other residents especially for Emma’s family who’s been supportive of him. Will Curtis have more people to support him? Or will he face more hardships from people who will hate him for pretending?
