Coronavirus Shuts Down Production

In March, Corrie and other soaps shut down production as COVID-19 swept across the globe. Nobody knew how long the lockdown was going to take place for, but it seems to be a lot longer than anyone anticipated. Now that three months have nearly passed, it’s time for everyone to get back to work.

Corrie Spoilers: Quarantine Creativity

While under lockdown, the cast has gotten quite creative. We’re not just talking about with all their free time, but with their hair too! One soap star completely shaved it off and others colored it bright colors. We’re talking pink, purple, and every color in between. They will have to do something about that before they return to filming, which is coming up in just a few days.

Filming Restarts On June 9

Coronation Street spoilers reveal that the soap is scheduled to resume production on Tuesday, June 9, 2020. However, it won’t be going back to the way it was. Coronavirus taught everyone a lot and it’s still out there. So, filming will have to take place with a lot of safety measures put in place to protect the cast and crew.

Coronation Street Updates: Production Changes

On Instagram via Manchester Evening News, Halsall was excited to share a glimpse of his first script since the lockdown began. Don’t worry, it doesn’t give away any spoilers. It’s a photo of the cover page of the script with a big “censored” sign stamped across the front. He also added “first-script [in] a while” with a celebrating emoji.

As for how filming will change, production will not go back full-time like it was before the quarantine. At least, not for a while. They will produce three episodes each week instead of six. Temperatures will be checked each day by an external company. Plus, social distancing measures will be adhered to.

Intensive cleaning and sanitizing will take place every single day. Make-up and costume artists will work remotely and senior citizen cast members, along with those with underlying health conditions, will remain off the set in the beginning.

What do you think of filming starting back up with special safety protocols? Are you looking forward to the cast and crew working on new episodes?

Cannot wait for Corrie to return. The American soaps seem to be wanting to dig their graves.
