The young actor debuted his fantastic new look back in March at a show business event. The determined star has shed more than a stone so far.

According to Smith, he began his new fitness routine earlier this year in order to be in shape for his Corrie story.

Onscreen, his cop character was forced to begin a running routine when he ran after some shoplifters and was soon out of breath.

On the show, Smith’s character Craig informed his friends that he intended to get healthier and more fit following a round of work bullying.

Speaking on his podcast Sofa Cinema Club, Smith has acknowledged that food poisoning was behind a major weight loss that incurred back in December. During that time he said that he ignored warnings not to eat seafood in Thailand. However, he found it hard to resist the advice!

“How can you not have seafood on the beach? Well, anyway. I’m not doing that again. I’ve lost about a stone and a half.”
