Coronation Street spoilers reveal that in Weatherfield we just went through a devastating medical storyline with Oliver Battersby (Jeremiah and Emmanuel Cheetham), which ended with the little boy’s death. Now, Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) will be diagnosed with liver failure. He tells his loved ones that they need to accept his death, but the actor hinted he might not be leaving the soap.

Corrie spoilers reveal that Peter was doing well with sobriety and even tried to help Abi Franklin (Sally Carman) during her relapse. It was something Carla Connor (Alison King) worried about, though. Unfortunately, Peter (Chris Gascoyne)began hitting the bottle again after some hard times, traumatic events and stressful situations.

Peter is rushed to the hospital when he is found vomiting, keeled over and with blood on his clothes. He is diagnosed with liver failure, but doesn’t want anyone to know. However, Ken Barlow (William Roache) is informed about Peter’s hospitalization, so he goes to visit him. Peter doesn’t want anyone knowing about the diagnosis.

When Peter is discharged, he meets up with Carla. She is furious, not knowing what happened, and blasts him for disappearing. That is when he tells her the truth, that he was in the hospital and has liver failure.

Coronation Street spoilers reveal that Peter seemingly accepts that it’s the end of the road for him. He tells Ken to accept that he is going to die. When Carla wants to take care of him, Peter declines and says it’s too late. However, there might be hope with this storyline.

Coronation Street Spoilers -Is Chris Gascoyne Leaving?

Actor Chris Gascoyne told Metro that Peter knows he will die if he touches alcohol ever again. Based on his statement to the media outlet, it doesn’t sound like he’s going anywhere.

“I love the character of Peter. I don’t think too much about the character, the writers write it so well and I just play it. He is troubled, but he is a survivor… we discussed the alcoholism relapse in the 60th anniversary – for so long, every time he has a drink, we are told that he can’t drink again or he will die. After this he can never ever drink again.”

As far as Peter and Carla’s relationship, Gascoyne isn’t sure if the couple can survive yet another roadblock. However, the actor did say Peter supported Carla through her psychosis, so perhaps they still have a chance.
