Coronation Street Spoilers – Simon Gregson As Steve McDonald
Corrie fans know Steve McDonald quite well, as the character has been on the soap since December 6, 1989. He has appeared in over 3,200 episodes since his debut and has a big storyline right now involving his son, Oliver Battersby (Emmanuel and Jeremiah Cheetham).
Coronation Street Spoilers – Corrie Star Battles Coronavirus
It was recently revealed that Simon tested positive for COVID-19, also called coronavirus. Just prior to announcing he contracted the illness, his wife’s grandmother passed away from it. The diagnosis has affected the whole family in so many ways. While he is still recovering, the actor is feeling much better.
However, he will never forget those who are on the frontlines every single day helping those who are fighting for their lives.
Generous Gift to One Brave NHS Hero
The Coronation Street star wrote on Twitter that he was giving away two of his most prized possessions. One was a classic automobile and the other was a motorbike. Hundreds of people responded and he quickly picked the winner. He wrote,
“Dear NHS workers I have two classic projects (car and bike) if you ride or drive and like fettling old machinery they’re [sic] yours. Just a little thank you. They need work! But don’t we all. No delivery for obvious [sic] reasons oh and thank you.”
In the comments section, the actor clarified that there would be VAT and tax-free. He also said that the car was a 1968 Triumph FWD. A fan said that the bike looked like a Francis Barnett Kestrel.
Coronation Street Spoilers – Fans React
Fans and followers of the actor reacted to the generous gesture. Most were impressed that he would give away his two most prized possessions. Someone suggested he auction the car and bike off, then donate the money to NHS. However, the actor really wanted someone who loved tinkering with cars and bikes as he does. Another wrote,
“Aw what a kind gesture Simon … I’m working for NHS but not on the front line – hope u and all ur family are well xx”
Simon replied that he used a poor choice of words and that every NHS worker is the front line.
