It’s been a year since Harvey Gaskell (Will Mellor) killed Natasha Blakeman (Rachel Leskovac) after a fatal shooting wherein Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) was the target. Nick and Sam will prepare to commemorate her death.
They will hold a memorial lunch together with Audrey Roberts (Sue Nicholls), Gail Platt (Helen Worth), David Platt (Jack P Shepherd), Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien), and Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson).
Nick makes an emotional speech but Sam will take offense. He demands to speak with his mother’s killer so he can understand why he did what he did. Everyone who was there was shocked and worried as to what would happen if Sam meets Harvey. Audrey tries to talk to Sam and warn him about Harvey. She thinks she managed to change Sam’s mind, which comes as a relief to Nick. What they don’t know is that Sam still wants to talk to Harvey and continues to send him letters in prison.
Will Sam find a way to meet Harvey? How will Nick react when he learns that Sam continues to write to his late wife’s killer?

As for Leanne, she’ll make a secret visit to Harvey in prison after getting a visiting order from him. She and Nick talked about the letter and decided to ignore his request. But Leanne will come to lie about her day plans and visit Harvey in secret. The latter then reveals the reason why he wanted to see them and it’s about Sam.

Harvey will tell Leanne that Sam has been writing him letters, and he wants Leanne to tell him to stop. Later on, Leanne and Nick tell Sam to stop writing to Harvey. But Sam defends his actions and says that he just wants to know why he killed his mum. He promised he’ll stop writing to him if they allow him to visit Harvey. As expected, Leanne and Nick say it’s a bad idea, but Sam warns them that he’ll find a way.
Meanwhile, Sam tells Hope (Isabella Flanagan) that he’s still sending secret letters to Harvey. The latter will find the latest letter he receives from Sam because it contains a questionnaire about his violent past. Will Harvey answer Sam’s letter?
