Dancing With The Stars Alum Talks Shady Way ABC Fired Them

Dancing With The Stars has seen hundreds of pro dancers and celebs come and go over the years.  But, the DWTS judges and co-hosts usually return for multiple seasons. You can imagine Brooke Burke’s confusion when she learned after eight seasons she was being let go. 

After years of keeping mum on the matter, Burke is finally opening up about the shady way she was fired from Dancing With The Stars.

Brooke Burke originally made her Dancing With The Stars debut as a celebrity contestant in Season 7, she was paired up with fan fave Derek Hough and the couple danced their way all the way to the finals. 

After Burke and Hough won Dancing With The Stars, Brooke returned in Season 8 as a co-host alongside Tom Bergeron.  She went on to host seven more seasons of the ABC dance competition, and then things got weird.

According to Brooke Burke, she had no idea she was not going to be on Dancing With The Stars Season 18 and she had already began making arrangements to start filming. 

Then just a few weeks before the premiere on ABC, she got a phone call from TPTB saying that she wouldn’t be needed anymore.  That year Erin Andrews replaced Brooke on the new season.

This month Brooke Burke appeared on the podcast Getting Grilled With Curtis Stone, and she finally opened up about getting fired from Dancing With The Stars a decade ago.

Brooke Burke On Leaving DWTS

Brooke explained, “I probably had enough.  But then when you leave something and you think you’ve had enough, you kind of in hindsight look back and want a little bit more.

As a host, when you’re on a live show, it was a long time and I think I was ready to do other things. But I think it’s shocking when there’s a change in our business, just to humanize it, to be honest, to be vulnerable.”
