Julianne Hough – Views Dancing With The Stars As Family
When Dancing With The Stars (DWTS) season 32 debuts this autumn, Julianne Hough will begin her reign as co-host with Alfonso Ribeiro.
And after serving as a judge and dance pro, Julianne views it as a very special time in her career. But she also told Variety how she feels like starring on DWTS resembles a return to her family.
“The door has always been open for me to join or come back in any capacity,” revealed Julianne. “Because ‘Dancing with the Stars’ is my family. It’s where I feel the most myself and the most at home.”
And when Hough received the opportunity to host, she experienced a “full circle moment. I’ve now been a part of the show in every role — being a professional dancer to judge to now hosting,” she added.
And Julianne explained that she has gained “this unique perspective to be able to relate and nurture and care for the celebrities and the couples competing.”

Julianne Hough – Praises Her DWTS Co-Host
Because the former dance pro has also served as a judge, Julianne feels she knows how she can support the celebrities on the show. And she also hopes to help competitors “feel the most comfortable.” But from a personal perspective, Hough feels thrilled at the opportunity.
“There’s been so much hustle over the last 17 years of my career,” shared Julianne. “And I’m so grateful for all of it and I’ve tried so many different things. At the end of the day, personally, I am my happiest self when I’m surrounded by my family. This show is family.”
But Hough also took time to praise her co-host for the upcoming season. During season 32, Ribeiro will co-host by taking on the role of emcee on the ballroom floor. And Hough will take the skybox position, talking to DWTS teams after their performances.
Alfonso Ribeiro – Shares ‘Pure’ Love For DWTS
“The love that he has for this show is so pure,” gushed Julianne about Alfonso. “The friendships that are made here are lifelong. It feels like it’s just gonna be like a peek into our friendship and our lives.
With this season specifically, we are all so close. We’ve been friends for over 10 years. It’s like the ‘Friends’ cast. We’re going to be friends for the rest of our lives.”
And Ribeiro feels just as enthusiastic about Hough. Calling her “absolutely perfect,” he shared that he “can’t wait to get to work with her. She knows what it’s like to go through the experience.
Julianne has the expertise as a professional that she can really dive in to the technical aspects and the heart and the journey, but from a different side. It’s gonna be very exciting to do that.”
