Dancing With The Stars (DWTS) has officially released its cast for Season 33, and legendary actor, Eric Roberts is one of 12 contestants looking to snag the Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy.
The actor recently revealed that he was asked many years ago to join the cast but didn’t. Why? Learn more about this down below!
“DWTS”, Season 33: The One That Got Away
Roberts recently admitted to Us Weekly that he was the first person DWTS approached to do the show when it first kicked off in 2005.
The 68-year-actor revealed that he was unable to do so as he was in China filming a movie and only had a one-day overlap, so the producers wouldn’t let him go.
Over the 19 years since then, he’s had two titanium hip surgeries, too; however, Eric’s partner Britt Stewart doesn’t seem concerned about this telling Us, “We’re going to get those titanium hips nice and juiced up and ready to move.”
“DWTS”, Season 33: Eric Roberts Has Trust In His Partner
Like most contestants, Eric is nervous about the dancing competition but it sounds like he has faith in his dancing partner. He tells Us Weekly that the contest will be hard as he’s not a dancer.
But he adds that Britt is, and while she has to work from the ground up with him as he’s not experienced, she makes him happy daily. This likely means that Britt is doing her job and helping Eric’s confidence grow when it comes to his moves on the dance floor.
As for Britt, she states that what Eric has done in his acting career is both amazing and impressive. She also notes that she’s grateful to have him as her dancing partner and looks forward to bringing him to light when it comes to the ballroom.
DWTS Season 33 premieres on ABC on Tuesday, September 17 at 8 p.m. Eastern Time.
