“Dancing With The Stars”, Season 33: Chmerkovskiy Doesn’t Approve

Chmerkovskiy has an issue with the 33-year-old convict competing on the show. He tells the TMZ podcast this past Monday, September 23 that to him, Delvey’s job is being a professional liar.

He adds, “You’re gonna bring that person [on stage] and say, ‘Here’s a platform that a lot of people waited their entire actual career to be a part of,’ to also get a moment of a personal story [where they] can say, ‘This is who I actually am.’ Will I believe anything this lady says? Absolutely not.”

The pro dancer went on to judge Delvey’s first dance, noting that it was “not great”. He went on to say people could attribute this to nerves and “everyone’s human” and not “used to that stage”, but he notes that is “bs”.

He then goes on to say that as Delvey conned people into think she was a “fully fashion this and a special like that”, which takes a lot of guts. As such, he doesn’t buy into the “she was nervous” rhetoric. He states that he believes she’s a ‘sh—ty’ dancer and her personality won’t help her in this competition.

“Dancing With The Stars”, Season 33: Anna Delvey’s History

In 2017, Anna Delvey, legally known as Anna Sorkin, was arrested on multiple counts of grand larceny and misdemeanor theft when she posed as a “fake heiress” and hung out with New York City elite.

She was convicted in 2019 and was released on parole in 2021. Delvey was placed on house arrest due to overstaying her visa, and now dons a bedazzled ankle monitor while dancing it up on DWTS.

Whether or not she should be on the show seems like a moral debate; however, the decision was approved by DWTS, and she is now officially part of the Season 33 cast.
