Dancing with the Stars is a popular American dance competition show that first aired on ABC on June 1, 2005.
This series is the U.S. adaptation of the British reality show Strictly Come Dancing and is part of the broader Dancing with the Stars franchise.

On February 10, 2024, ABC confirmed the renewal of the series for a thirty-third season, set to debut on September 17, 2024.
DWTS Spoilers – The Changes Cheryl Wants For Season 34
Cheryl Burke has been absent from Dancing with the Stars since November 2022, yet she remains vocal about the series. Utilizing her platform, she discusses the ongoing seasons and, with Season 33 now concluded, she has some ideas for improvement.
In a recent episode of her podcast, Sex, Lies, and Spray Tans, Cheryl addressed fans’ pressing questions. While her podcast has garnered a significant following among DWTS enthusiasts, some listeners feel that Cheryl’s critiques of the show that made her famous are overly harsh.
In the latest episode, she expressed a desire for the show to return to its original essence, advocating for judges who possess formal dance training.
Dancing With The Stars Spoilers – Judges Need To Justify Their Critiques
Over the years, the panel of judges on the show has evolved; the current trio includes Bruno Tonioli, Carrie Ann Inaba, and Derek Hough.
Nonetheless, Cheryl expresses a desire for judges with formal dance backgrounds, akin to the late Len Goodman. She stated, “They need to have the ability to justify their critiques.
If it’s just about using the right lingo without being able to clarify their reasoning, it becomes tricky. Unless they bring in judges with a stronger ballroom foundation than some of the ones from last season, it won’t be the same.”
DWTS Spoilers – Cheryl Wants Strictly Ballroom Dancing On The Show
Cheryl is advocating for a return to the classic format of DWTS, which once captivated audiences with the elegance of ballroom dancing. If the judging panel remains unchanged, she believes the current judges should go back to school.
Cheryl suggested that all three judges should take their “adjudicator’s exam.” “I think it’s essential, and why wouldn’t you want to do that? After all these years, if you’re not well-versed in the genre, why not take the time to learn-or maybe they already have, I’m not sure,”
Cheryl shared. She’s not alone in her desire for reform; some fans are calling for Carrie Ann’s dismissal following her critical comments about Ilona Maher and Chandler Kinney.
