Sweeney has landed a new gig with Hallmark as she stars in The Magical Christmas Village. In the holiday movie, the actress takes on the role of Summer, who lives with her mother, portrayed by Marlo Thomas, during the holidays. She finds herself involved in a magical romance with the help of Summer’s daughter, mother, and some mystical Christmas figurines.

“It’s three generations of women living together during the holidays, which is always a difficult time of year, and then a little Christmas magic comes into play and connects her with a potentially new love interest that walks into her life, so she needed a little magic to push her in that direction,” the actress said.

Sweeney is grateful for having the opportunity to work with Thomas. She said it was “a dream come true” and that she’s having a “masterclass” in comedy every time she’s with her on set. She described her as “totally professional, totally inspiring,” and “hilarious.”

In an interview with The Kelly Clarkson Show, the actress also reflected on her time as Sami Brady on Days Of Our Lives. It’s been three decades since she joined the soap. The actress said that she grew up playing Sami Brady. She started when she was 16 years old, and she loved it. “I love my job, I love working there. The crew all watched me grow up and get married and have my own kids,” she said.

Sweeney joined Days Of Our Lives in 1993 and left in 2014. She returned for its 50th-anniversary episode back in 2015. After that, she made several sporadic appearances in the following years. “Now I get to go back every once in a while and visit and you do get that sense of just reuniting with everyone again,” she said.
