Days Of Our Lives Cast And Crew Raise Wine Glasses High To Toast NBC Exit, Peacock Arrival

Days Of Our Lives

Days Of Our Lives spoilers reveal that the soap opera will soon make history. And that involves moving from NBC to the Peacock streaming service. However, viewers have expressed disappointment at needing to pay the price to subscribe to Peacock rather than view Days Of Our Lives for free on the network.

But the cast and crew made it clear that they feel positive about the move. And so they raised their wine glasses high to toast the shift in a celebratory get-together. Find out what the executive producer of Days Of Our Lives said in cheering the shift to Peacock below.

Days Of Our Lives – Exec Producer Toasts Move To Peacock

Peacock pride came out in full force as Days Of Our Lives executive producer Ken Corday met with the cast and crew. And the producer urged them to raise their wine glasses high in his toast. The celebration marked 57 years on NBC. But in his toast, Corday looked to the future, noted TV Insider.

As of Monday, September 12, Days of Our Lives will begin streaming on Peacock. And Ken recalled his father’s past as he toasted the meaning of the move. “In the early 1950’s, my father, Ted Corday, the creator of Days of our Lives, was directing The Guiding Light,” recalled Ken. “A 15 minute daytime drama on CBS radio and also on the new CBS television network.”

Noting that it involved the same script, cast, and day, Ted predicted that his radio staff would lose their jobs. And he claimed that soap opera fans would switch from radio to TV. Showing his pride in his father, Ken stated, “He was a pioneer. Later he directed and produced As the World Turns solely on CBS television. It became the first 1/2 hour daytime drama.”

Days Of Our Lives –  First Daytime Drama To Air Only On Streaming Service

As Corday reflected on the change, he emphasized that Days Of Our Lives has remained a pioneer throughout its years on NBC. For instance, in 1975, the show expanded from half an hour to a full hour. And Ken believes the “pioneering spirit has been evident in the many thousands of episodes of Days produced over the last 58 years.”

However, the executive producer also sought to avoid any mention of the backlash from viewers about paying to watch Days Of Our Lives. And he proclaimed the show a pioneer in shifting “into the streaming world of television in 2022 on the NBC Peacock platform. It is only appropriate that Days is the first daytime drama to be exclusively broadcast in this manner,” he added. “And it is a very exciting and upward transition.”

The Peacock library currently contains the spin-off, Days of Our Lives: Beyond Salem. And with the move, viewers can watch the Beyond Salem episodes along with the newest episodes. Days Of Our Lives ranks as the longest running series on NBC. And it has won 58 Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Daytime Drama. Corday Productions Inc. produces in association with Sony Pictures Television, with Corday as executive producer and Albert Alarr as co-executive producer Albert Alarr. Ron Carlivati serves as the head writer.
