Report: Greg Meng Fired By Corday Productions
According to Daytime Confidentiality, Meng is no longer the co-executive producer of DOOL. The website stated that multiple sources shared the news. Meng had been with the soap for over 30 years and also served as vice-president of Corday Productions. No reason has yet been given for Meng’s dismissal.
DOOL Not Rushing Back To Filming
As the four soap operas that remain on American television struggle with getting back to work, Meng recently discussed resuming production. He stated that there was no rush to get back to the set. The soap has an accelerated production schedule and they still can provide viewers with new episodes until October 2020. Meng stated that the last thing they wanted to do was return to filming only to have another shutdown.
Snubbing The Bold and the Beautiful
The Days of Our Lives co-EP also made it clear that they would not be ordering any blow-up dolls. It seemed to be a snub directed at B&B, who is already back in production. While discussing the safety measures taken to protect the cast and crew, blow-up dolls were mentioned to several publications.
While it has been explained that the blow-up doll they have was used as a corpse, B&B head writer/executive producer Bradley Bell said that they would be using actors’ spouses as “love doubles.”
Days of Our Lives: Major Changes During Critical Time
Daytime Confidentiality’s sources say that Meng was fired. However, nobody has come forward with a statement yet. Decisions like these are not made easily and probably had been discussed for some time. It is possible that the company might have just been waiting until the Emmy awards were over before delivering the news to Meng.
In any case, the soap is going through massive changes due to rising costs, budget cuts, letting go of core characters, and now the safety measures from COVID. We will keep you updated with any developments or updates.
