It’s been quite a year for Sami Brady and Lucas Horton, those former best friends turned husband and wife and parents together of two grown children and two grandchildren. They proved that they still have it after all these years, but Sami chose EJ DiMera (Daniel Feuerriegel) anyway and Lucas just couldn’t have it, so he is the one who had Sami kidnapped and held hostage for months just so he could swoop in, rescue her, play hero, and frame EJ for the whole thing.

No, DAYS, that’s not how Lumi fans wanted them to get together. We wanted honesty and for Sami to choose Lucas of her own volition, but we still hold out hope that the devil made Lucas do it, since the devil knew all and has now taken over Sami’s son Johnny’s (Carson Boatman) soul.

Either way, Lucas is thrilled when Sami suggests they leave town to rebuild their relationship. This way he can make sure Sami never finds out the truth and they can also be together away from everyone else in Salem. This also paves the way for Alison Sweeney and Bryan Dattilo’s departure from the soap, for now.

DOOL Spoilers – Head Writer Hands Lucas Horton The Perfect Out

“With the revelation that EJ is her [alleged] kidnapper, Sami turns more and more towards Lucas,” DAYS Head Writer Ron Carilvati said in the January 11, 2022, issue of Soap Opera Digest. “And Lucas, knowing he is, in fact, her kidnapper, is living with this awful fear that someday, she’s going to find this out. So, his goal is to get her as far away from Salem as possible, and Sami and Lucas decide to go to Europe, where Sydney is.”

As characters rotate on and off DOOL and in and out of Salem often, we expect to see Sweeney and Dattilo bring Sami and Lucas back to town eventually, but for now, we get to see what mischief EJ gets himself into while she is away — and while he soon learns his son is not JoDevil.
