DOOL comings and goings reveal that the last time we saw Joey (James Lastovic) was in 2017. He went into Ava Vitali’s (Tamara Braun) hospital room, took a pillow, and smothered her to death. He struggled with guilt aftward and eventually told Steve (Stephen Nichols) what he had done. Even though a lot of people knew that the act was justified considering everything Ava had done to the family, Joey still went to prison. In soap time, Joey has served four years behind bars.

In the upcoming week, Ava is going to make a deal with Kayla so Joey can come home. If Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) drops the kidnapping charges, then Ava will make sure that Joey won’t be charged with attempted murder. That’s right, even though Joey will be released because the woman he murdered is alive, he can still face a new charge of attempted murder. Kayla just wants her son home, so she agrees to the deal.

Days of Our Lives comings and goings reveal that Soap Opera Digest did not give a specific date for Joey’s return, only that it would be during the week of December 7. The biggest scenes in soaps usually happen on Mondays and Fridays, so we are thinking this will at the end of the week.

We already know from the winter promo released during the annual Day of Days event that Joey looks nervous when he sits in a room at the prison. Then, he is told that he’s free to go. The cell door opens and Joey sees his parents waiting for him with open arms. Joey rushes up to Steve and Kayla. The three of them hug and it is teased that for a short time, the problems with “Stayla” are shelved because of Joey. However, the peace in the Johnson household is only temporary and Ava is going to be a big problem.
