Days Of Our Lives Comings and Goings: Rex Brady’s Exit – Kyle Lowder Explains Benefits of Being Bound And Gagged

Days of Our Lives: Kyle Lowder (Rex Brady)NBC Days of Our Lives comings and goings reveal that Kyle Lowder has completed his stint as Rex Brady. Fans were hoping the character would stick around and maybe even pop in Salem for a visit. However, his storyline arc revolved around Sarah Horton (Linsey Godfrey). The actor explains how Rex grounded the chaos even while he was bound and gagged.

Days Of Our Lives Updates – Kyle Lowder’s Brief Return

DOOL spoilers reveal that Lowder is no stranger to viewers. Not only is he known as Rex on the NBC soap, but many years ago portrayed another popular character. He played the role of Brady Black before Eric Martsolf snagged the part.

Rex returned to our TV screens on April 30 when he was surprised to run into Sarah while in Paris. His last scene aired on May 12 and he silently went back to Chicago.

Surprise Call And Exciting Story

In a previous edition of Soap Opera Digest, Lowder talked about getting the surprise call asking him to come back. With the hostile way Rex left last time, the actor thought that would be the end. So, he was pleasantly surprised when he was asked if he was available for a brief stint.

Lowder got even more excited after he learned about the story. It wasn’t just about Rex being held hostage by Sarah. It was how Rex could handle the chaotic situation and if he could convince Sarah to do the right thing.

DOOL Comings and Goings – Grounding Presence Amidst The Chaos

Days of Our Lives spoilers reveal that Sarah bonked Rex on the head. Then, she tied him to a chair and shoved a gag in his mouth. Lowder explained the significance of his part in the new issue of SOD, even though he was bound and gagged.

“Just being fixed in a position for four hours was difficult, to say the least, but it was also very empowering. To be very grounded, I think, was very helpful because Rex’s position with this particular story was to be the grounding presence amidst the chaos.”

Being tied up also proved to be a challenge for the actor. He is used to pacing and reciting his dialogue. However, with no free hands and not being able to walk around, he had to be sure those lines were locked in his head.

Benefits Of Being Bound And Gagged

Lowder also explained that being stuck to a chair and having a gag in his mouth had other benefits. For one, he couldn’t buy into Sarah’s panicked state. So, it forced Rex to stay calm and he had no choice but to be grounded. It also stopped him from saying something that could set off Sarah. There were times when she took the gag out and let Rex talk. However, once she got annoyed, she shoved that rag right back into his mouth!

“The character of Sarah would freak out about something and then it would come back to me and I would have to sit there and look at her with literally a gag in my mouth, with my hands tied behind my back, and just have to respond without any words or any movement.”

Hopefully, Lowder will return again for another stint. Did you enjoy seeing Rex and Sarah in scenes together again? Would you like to see him come back on a more permanent basis?
