Then, we saw her come back when it was confirmed that she ended up getting pregnant by Steve “Patch” Johnson (Stephen Nichols) and gave birth to a son. However, nobody knew about this child for a long time and it turned out she was forced to give him up by her father.

When Ava returned to Salem claiming she was dying from cancer, she made sure to let Steve know that he had a son out there, which led Steve and Kayla Brady (Mary Beth Evans) on a search to find Tripp.
