Paul Telfer is back on the set of “Days of Our Lives” filming for his role as Xander Kiriakis. While he was away from the daytime soap, he was busy with a thriller film called “Green Fever.” In an interview with Soaps.com, Telfer talked about Xander and how it compares to his character in his new film.
Telfer shared that Xander was pitched to him as psychopath. But being a daytime psychopath, he would make some grim plans and plots, then in the end, he does not get to kill anybody. There are certain limitations on how bad a character can be on a soap.
With Ticker, the character he wrote for “Green Fever,” Telfer has a complete freedom and he admitted that he made him as dark as he could.
Days Of Our Lives – Telfer Wrote And Starred In Green Fever
“This wasn’t going to be on at 1 PM and we didn’t have to keep anyone happy. We could do this vicious little story because we don’t have to please everyone and make $100 million,” Telfer said. “It could be more uncompromising, so it was really fun to write this character. I made him as horrible as I could.”
Still, Xander is someone who always brings trouble to town, Telfer said. He added that he likes that there’s an element of surprise with Xander, and that’s the fun part.
One example is his recent storyline with Leo (Greg Rikaart), which he thought made a lot of sense given Xander’s connections to a main family.

“Sexually, those things haven’t really been written in stone for Xander. That’s what I enjoyed about it, there’s no reason why he couldn’t do this. They were such juicy, hilarious scenes,” he shared.
Meanwhile, Telfer has wrapped up “Green Fever.” He wrote it and starred in it with Danny Acosta, and it was directed by Gerard Roxburgh. The horror thriller film is based on a marijuana grower who was robbed and has to defend his home against attackers.
