Days Of Our Lives News: Arleen Sorkin, Who Played Calliope Jones, Passed Away At 67

Some incredibly sad news for Days of Our Lives (DOOL) cast, crew, and fans as actress, Arleen Sorkin, who played the eccentric Calliope Jones, has died at the age of 67. She’s not only known for her soap opera role but also as the original voice of Harley Quinn, a character she inspired.

Sorkin entered the land of Salem in 1984, playing the wacky Calliope Jones, and was involved in some pretty over-the-top storylines.

Still, it was the way Jones beat to her own drum that had Days fans so invested in each and every one of Calliope’s moves and love stories.

She exited in 1990, but would make return visits to the town in 1992 and 2001; with a brief run in February 2006 as well as May 2010.

During her time on the show, she received four Soap Opera Digest Awards in total, as well as two Daytime Emmy nods, one in 1988 and 1989, both in the category of Outstanding Supporting Actress.

DOOL News – The Original Harley Quinn & Other Screen Credits

Paul Dini, the creator of “Harley Quinn”, was a college friend of Sorkin’s, and he based the character on his friend.

In fact, Ms. Sorkin also took on the voice role of HQ in Batman: The Animated Series, as well as The New Batman Adventures and Justice League.

Added acting credits for Arleen included Duet on Fox, where she portrayed “Geneva” from 1987 to 1989, and was once the host of America’s Funniest People, which ran from 1990 to 1992.

Ms. Sorkin leaves behind her husband, Christopher Lloyd, a television producer. The two got married in 1995 and ended up having two boys, Eli and Owen.

Lloyd also happens to be the producer of the comedy hit, Fraiser, which Arleen guest starred in at one point, as a monkey caregiver on the last episode. On behalf of everyone here, our thoughts go out to Arleen Sorkin’s family, friends, loved ones, and fans.
