After thanking a fan for her kind words, he takes the time to appreciate the support and love from all his dedicated fans. Nichols wants it to be known that he was completely blindsided by the powers that be. There is no misconstrued his words as he writes, “I am touched and humbled by your kind words. I will forever indebted to you and all of our dedicated supporters who give so much love. I accepted their offer after trying unsuccessfully to negotiate something better than a 30% cut. DOOL sources reveal Stephen Nichols has been the only actor to portray Steve or “Patch” as fans fondly refer to the character, since June 1985. Although he left from 1990, returning in 2006, again departing in 2009 and came back in 2015; he is very much a huge part of the Days of Our Lives family and will be sorely missed on the NBC daytime drama.
It is unclear how his character will leave the series, as he is currently involved in a storyline where his wife, Dr. Kayla Brady (Mary Beth Evans) made a secret deal with Stefan O. DiMera (Tyler Christopher) for Steve to regain his eyesight through a bionic eye. “Days” spoilers show Steve is very suspicious of his wife and will do something pretty devious himself this week to learn the truth.
