Days of Our Lives stars paid tribute to John Aniston via video memories on Monday, December 26, 2022, the last time we ever saw the actor on screen as Victor Kiriakis. Many performers like Wally Kurth (Justin Kiriakis) and Judi Evans (Adrienne Kiriakis/Bonnie Lockhart Kiriakis) had worked with Aniston for decades, but Peter Reckell was the actor who played Victor’s beloved oldest son, Bo Brady.

Bo Brady grew up believing that Shawn Brady (Frank Parker) was his biological father but eventually learned an affair between Caroline Brady (Peggy McCay) and Victor Kiriakis was the reason for his existence. He still thought of Shawn as his father, but he soon grew closer to Victor and for many years had two fathers in his life.

Reckell left the soap behind in 2016 when Bo Brady died in Hope Brady’s arms after just learning he had a brain tumor, but he returned in 2022 for Days of Our Lives: Beyond Salem, Chapter 2. Bo is now alive again and scheduled to return to the main show in 2023. Sadly, it will be without Aniston who passed away on November 11, 2022, at the age of 89.

DOOL Spoilers – Peter Reckell’s Touching Words

When DOOL paid tribute to Aniston the day after Christmas, Reckell’s video practically brought fans to tears.

“I would show up in his dressing room,” Reckell said, ‘and I was always greeted by at least two or three jokes and some wisdom, whether it was important stuff like the stock market or just silly stuff like, ‘Whenever you’re stuck in rush-hour traffic, changing lanes doesn’t make any sense, ’cause you always end up at the same place at the same time.'”

The next day, Reckell took to Twitter to add more of his thoughts about the impact that Aniston had on the 59-year-old soap.

“Adding John to the cast of DOOL added so much to the show. He brought many different colors and depth of emotion not only for his character but to many storylines. The humor, strength, vulnerability, and passion was evident in everything he did.”
