Days of Our Lives Ratings Update: DOOL Finally Grabs Top Spot – First Time Since 1973

Days of Our Lives Ratings: DOOL Finally Grabs Top Spot - First Time Since 1973NBC Days of Our Lives ratings for the week of June 29, 2020, show that the NBC soap finally grabs the top spot. This hasn’t happened since 1973 and at that time, there were dozens of soaps competing. Things are a bit different now with DOOL being the only soap that is airing new episodes. Keep reading to find out more.

First Time In Top Spot Since 1973

DOOL hasn’t had the number one spot since 1973. To tell you exactly how long that’s been, Richard Nixon was the President of the United States and there were 16 soaps on the air. Now they did get to the second position, but that was all the way back in 1995, according to Showbiz 411.

DOOL Didn’t Do As Well As Expected

The NBC soap should have been in the top spot for several weeks due to it being the only one airing new episodes. However, it still couldn’t beat out competing soaps who were just airing reruns aka “theme weeks.”

Can The NBC Soap Stay Number One?

Days of Our Lives fans know that ratings mean everything. Even though the soap did hit number one for the first time in nearly 50 years, can it stay that way? As a DOOL fan, I certainly hope so but I also look at patterns and history. Since the soap isn’t really changing anything — and can’t due to them already filming episodes so far in advance. So, we will just have to wait and see, especially when core fan-favorites leave later this year.

Days of Our Lives Ratings

The ratings for June 29 to July 3 reveal that there were 1,770,000 total viewers, Soap Opera Network reported. That’s a 23,000 increase from last week, but a decline of a whopping 219,000 from this time last year. They barely beat The Young and the Restless, who had 1,752,000 total viewers, which is 168,000 less from last year. Of course, Y&R, GH, and B&B can all use the reruns as a way to explain their ratings.

As for DOOL, we will just have to wait and see if a new pattern emerges or if this was just luck. What do you think of the ratings this week? What do you think is going to happen in the future?

I think they need to go back pre rime jump and erase all of the BS stories especially Steve’s return. Having Kayla with a family member romantically is gross. They had plentyof issues to work through without this and honestly i believe most men would tell them you disgust me and would never want them back soulmate or not. Time jump distroyed the show but HW don’t care has bo plan on going back so the show is history. HW don’t care about characters histories on the show for example steve always hated Justin he was never good enough for his sister so he tolorated him cause she wanted to be with him. Adrienne would have never approved of sick Kayla and justin she would be disgusted with both of them (after all thwy are all family for 30+years). Anyway thats my opinion many won’t agree but i think a lot Will polls have proven it.
