Days of Our Lives spoilers tease that Melinda Trask (Laura Kai Chen) may be working on a last minute save from deportation for her daughter Haley Chen (Thia Megia) and that is why Days of Our Lives viewers haven’t seen her recently.

As Days of Our Lives viewers know, JJ Deveraux (Casey Moss) grabbed Haley at the last minute before she was supposed to be deported back to China, and took her on the run with him! They have been hiding out at the Horton family cabin for the last week or so, and in the meanwhile, Mama Melinda seems to have been off the grid!

After JJ’s mother, Jennnifer Horton (Melissa Reeves) talked Melinda down from making the mistake of gunning for Jack Deveraux (Matthew Ashford) a couple of weeks ago, she seems to have disappeared. It is hard to understand when Haley has been in the United States for several years going to school and getting a job, and Melinda paid for all of that, why she didn’t help her get a green card and a path to legal US Citizenship long ago; however, now she realizes the error of her ways and may be trying to make up for lost time behind the scenes!

Days Of Our Lives Spoilers: Immigration Laws Could Be What Helps Melinda Trask With Her Task

According to US Immigration law, there are some things that Melinda could do. For one thing, she could work on a Stay Of Removal. An immigrant requesting a Stay Of Removal does have to meet several requirements, among them the immigrant having lived in the US for at least ten years, and it sounds like Haley has been here that long.

Another option Melinda could be pursuing would be an Adjustment of Status, which grants an immigrant permanent resident status, but Haley would have to have a visa number and a petitioning family member or employer. Haley would have both although an available visa number is unknown.

DOOL Spoilers: Haley Chen Will Have To Appear Before An Immigration Judge

Haley would have to appear before an immigration judge and the petitioning family member and employer probably would too. Another thing Melinda may be working on is obtaining Haley’s birth records so that she can prove she’s her mother.

It is possible that Melinda may be able to prevent Haley’s deportation at the last minute with some of these methods, but she’d better hurry up; the deportation clock is ticking!
