They were supposed to rough him up if necessary, but Carmine ended up killing the man

During the week of October 18, Carmine arrives in Salem and there is only one possible reason for his visit. Ava must have called him to take care of Jake. Of course, Carmine isn’t going to let anyone see him commit a crime. However, he will probably make it appear as if Jake is the guilty one.

Days of Our Lives spoilers reveal that Abe ends up being involved in Carmine and Ava’s scheme. Abe appears to be strolling in the park when he suddenly ends up on the ground. Holding his chest, a photo in Soap Opera Digest doesn’t show any blood. However, it is assumed that Abe is shot. So, not only will Jake face harsher penalties for trying to assassinate a member of public office, but Carmine won’t kill the mayor.

He will want to keep him alive so the victim can point the finger at Jake. That way, Jake is arrested right away and who are they going to believe? The mayor of Salem, or a former debt enforcer for the mob?

It is confirmed that Jake is arrested while Abe is rushed to the hospital. Then, during the week of October 25, Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) will interrogate Jake. Will he tell Rafe about the Titan war with Philip and Ava? Will Rafe even believe that Ava is still connected to the mob or could Jake end up losing his freedom for a crime he didn’t even commit?       jake never shot abe carver carmine did and now he blaming jake fot it and yes jake is the one saving abe's life and bringing abe back to his family and to paulina too. not just paulina but his new daughter in law chanel. jake is innocent so back the hell off.
