Days Of Our Lives Spoilers – Why Was Abigail DiMera Killed?

Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn) can’t believe his eyes when he finds Abigail DiMera’s (Marci Miller) bloodied body in their bed. She’s been stabbed and doesn’t survive and now Chad is all alone to raise his two children, Thomas and Charlotte. Jack Deveraux (Matthew Ashford) and Jennifer Deveraux (Melissa Reeves) return to mourn their daughter, but might she return from the dead as so many do in Salem.

Head Writer Ron Carlivati told the June 21, 2022, issue of Soap Opera Digest that he felt Abby needed to be killed as neither Marci Miller nor Kate Mansi, the two actresses who have alternated the role over the last several years, would be available on a full-time contract basis and he couldn’t leave Chad in limbo with a wife out of town. So, he and the network had to sit down and make a decision and the decision was to kill Abigail.

DOOL Spoilers – Is This Death A Real Death?

However, that decision can be changed down the road, as these things often happen on soaps and especially happen on DOOL.

“It was a hard, hard decision,” Carlivati told Digest. “That was a hard decision among the network, with Corday Productions, with everyone and we decided to ultimately do it. And also, we decided to do it knowing that we’re not saying it’s not a permanent death, but there is always a possibility that death is not permanent, especially on a soap opera and especially in Salem, so you feel that maybe you’re not closing off the future of the character forever.”

And yes, this is Salem, and in Salem, Dr. Wilhelm Rolf (Will Utay) can bring anyone back to life and even did so with Abigail’s father, Jack, who fell down an elevator shaft and then somehow returned years later with amnesia.

We even saw EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) and Will Horton’s (Chandler Massey) dead bodies and still both characters are alive and well and in Salem today, so anything is possible. However, for now, this death looks like it took and this will now spark a murder mystery that will last for months to come and keep fans intrigued.
