Days of Our Lives spoilers tease that in Salem Allie Horton (Lindsay Arnold) will come face to face with her attacker; the big question for Days of Our Lives viewers is, will she remember Charlie Dale (Mike C. Manning) as her rapist?
Days Of Our Lives Spoilers – Allie Horton Was Triggered By Charlie Dale’s “Arrivederci”
Days of Our Lives viewers will recall from a recent episode, that Charlie, Allie and Charlie’s girlfriend Claire Brady (Isabel Durant) were together at Julie’s Place and as Allie left to go about her business after a short conversation with them, Charlie (Mike C. Manning) said “Arrivederci”. Of course, anyone who has watched “The Godfather” or enjoys Dean Martin classics knows, that is Italian for “goodbye”. Allie (Lindsay Arnold) heard it and appeared to be triggered by it; Claire asked Allie if she was okay, and Charlie wanted to make a hasty “arrivederci”!
He was obviously afraid that she recognized him as her rapist! Allie had talked to Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) about the night she was raped right afterwards, she went directly there. She told her when she heard Charlie say “arrivederci” she started having flashbacks about her rape! Marlena talked to her at some length, and she thought that Allie may have been triggered.
Allie told Marlena that Charlie in some ways reminded her of Tripp Dalton, (Lucas Adams) although she couldn’t quite figure out why. This all made a lot of sense to Marlena after Allie left and she learned from John Black (Drake Hogestyn) that Tripp has a half-brother on his mother, Ava Vitali’s (Tamara Braun) side! But in an upcoming episode, Allie again will come face to face with her attacker; will it all come back to her this time?
DOOL Spoilers – Flashbacks Are Sure Signs Of Repressed Memories Coming To The Surface
Most everyone is familiar with the term “post-traumatic stress disorder”. This is when someone has gone through a traumatic experience, and “pushed down” the memories of it as an automatic defense mechanism. The syndrome was once called “shell shock” and was noted in war veterans but came to the public eye when veterans would start to react to a trigger as if it were an enemy, sometimes hurting an innocent person in the process. Then it began to be noted in victims of domestic battery and sexual abuse, and in the 1980s several notable court cases were prosecuted based on the retrieved memories of victims.
In nearly every case, repressed traumatic memories would surface either in nightmares or in response to triggers, which served as reminders of subconsciously remembered events. Allie will come face to face with Charlie in an upcoming episode of Days of Our Lives, and chances are, more of her repressed memories will surface.
Allie will likely endanger herself if she remembers Charlie and recognizes him as her rapist, because she will not hold back – like her mother Sami Brady DiMera (Alison Sweeney) Allie would let Charlie have it! Luckily for her, she will not be the only one to recognize Charlie as her attacker, as Marlena, John, Steve Johnson, (Stephen Nichols) and Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering) will all know, as well!
