Days of Our Lives spoilers and updates reveal fans were devastated when Brandon Barash (Stefan DiMera)  unexpectedly lost his job last year after spending five years on the soap opera. Recently, a social media update suggested that he could be making a comeback to the Peacock soap-read on for further information.

Brandon Was Fired For Unknown Reasons

Brandon Barash made his debut on the soap  in 2019, stepping into the shoes of Stefan DiMera after Tyler Christopher departed from the role.

Later that same year, the character appeared to meet his demise, with Stefan’s heart being donated to Julie Williams (Susan Seaforth Hayes). However, in 2020, Barash returned to the show in a different capacity.

It was revealed that Stefan had a twin brother named Jake Lambert, later known as Jake DiMera, who was believed to have died during childbirth.

In a twist only DOOL could deliver, Jake was ultimately killed off, and his donated heart was used to bring Stefan back to life, thanks to the efforts of Dr. Wilhelm Rolf (Richard Wharton).

Both Brothers Were Involved With Gabi Hernandez

Stefan and Jake both had romantic ties to Gabi Hernandez, a character portrayed by Camila Banus until her departure from the show in 2023; in 2024, Cherie Jimenez took over the role.

In October 2024, Brandon Barash announced that he had been released from his contract with the show, despite being in the midst of it. The last appearance of Stefan saw him trapped in a trunk by his mother Vivian Alamain’s (Louise Sorel)  henchman, Ivan Marais (Ivan G’Vera).

At that time, the actor expressed that leaving the show felt like a “gut punch” and indicated he would only consider a return if there were new writers involved.

Following several changes behind the scenes, the Peacock soap now has new writers and co-producers; could it be the right moment for Stefan to make his comeback in Salem?

Return Rumors-Or Were They Hints After All?

Prior to his time on DOOL, Brandon Barash starred in General Hospital as Johnny Zacchara, a member of the notorious Zacchara mob family. His character was incarcerated in 2016, and fans of GH have been eagerly hoping for his comeback.

Recently, a post on Instagram sparked speculation among DOOL fans about Barash’s potential return to Salem.

He shared a selfie with the caption, “What time is it? Aura time,” tagging Days actor Robert Scott Wilson-this led to rumors about his return to the show.

Many fans believe that now would be an ideal moment for Stefan to reappear and disrupt Gabi’s blossoming relationship with JJ Deveraux (Casey Moss).

Fans’ Reactions

Fans flocked to social media to express their opinions on the potential return of Brandon Barash. Many soap opera enthusiasts were enthusiastic about the idea, particularly regarding a possible love triangle involving Stefan, Gabi, and JJ.

One fan remarked, “His departure felt so abrupt for the show; a love triangle would be exciting, especially as Gabi starts to feel truly at ease with JJ.” Another added, “Oh, he’s definitely coming back for a JJ and Gabi triangle;” someone else noted, “He mentioned it would take new writers for Gabi to leave JJ.”

Lastly, another fan pointed out, “They’re currently filming content for 2026, so it’s certainly possible he could return.”

Just A “Timely” Misunderstanding?

Some fans have tempered the excitement by suggesting that Brandon Barash’s post was primarily a promotional effort for the Aura watch brand.

One commenter pointed out, “This could simply be Rob Wilson (Alex Kiriakis) endorsing Aura watches, as other actors have been spotted wearing them after a party for the show.” Another fan mentioned that former Days star Greg Vaughan is also associated with promoting Aura watches.
