Days Of Our Lives Spoilers – Dan O’Connor Comments On His New Role
Fresh off his first-ever Daytime Emmy Award win for his writing work on GH this past Friday, along with Chris Van Etten, O’Connor told Soap Opera Network, “I’ve been very fortunate that I joined the team at ‘Days of Our Lives’.”
Dan also notes that he’s “excited” to join the Days writing team and is just happy to still be in the genre he loves. He’s also pumped about working with DOOL head writer, Ron Carlivati, as well as Katie Schock and Jamey Giddens.
DOOL Spoilers – Dan O’Connor’s Soapy Career Highlights
O’Connor entered the land of daytime drama working as a writers’ assistant on One Life To Life (OLTL). It was there that he worked with Carlivati before Ron became GH’s head writer in 2012.
Dan officially joined OLTL’s writing teams during the soap’s final season and wrote the very last episode.
In 2019, after Shelly Altman retired as GH co-head writer, O’Connor was named as her replacement.
Fast forward to January of this year and Dan, along with Van Etten were replaced by new co-head writers, Patrick Mulcahey and Elizabeth Korte. In May, Patrick abruptly exited GH, leaving the reigns to Korte as the soap’s sole head writer.
O’Connor and Van Etten’s Daytime Emmy win for writing is the first time since 2009 that GH has taken the statue in this category.
While O’Connor started working on the soap in May of this year, his first scripts will not air until the end of January 2025, due to DOOL’s filming schedule.
