Jake and Ava are caught off-guard by their feelings for each other, and realizing that their relationship has become serious. There was a time back in Philly in the mob days Jake was likely scared of Ava, opined Brandon Barash in Soap Opera Digest. But being thrown together in such a vastly different place and time, and sheltering together as roommates and then more, brought them close.

Ava and Jake are realizing that there is much more between them than they had counted on; and they are falling in love. Jake has brought out in her a different Ava, not the insecure and jealous Ava she was with Rafe Hernandez (Galen Gering).

Ava doesn’t want to be the clingy and jealous person she used to be, and Jake finds that very attractive. It’s a softer side of Ava than when he used to think of her as a tough mob boss, and her walls have come down brick by brick. As that process takes place, Jake also opens up and Ava soon finds out he has a much softer side than she thought as well. It’s definitely a type of uncharted territory for them both, since they knew of each other and kind of knew each other but not as well as they do now. The two take a little walk together to the Horton Town Square, and Jake asks himself if they are destined to be the great loves of each other’s lives.

Days Of Our Lives Spoilers: An Epiphany Moment

The thought of him and Ava being each other’s Mr. and Mrs. Right is unexpected to Jake, and it really catches him off guard, an epiphany moment of sorts. Jake realizes he’s really not only in love with Ava, but he wants to be in it for the long haul, and after so much romantic defeat, she’s it. He realizes that they are meant to be more than just another roll in the hay to each other and he wants to prove it to her.

Jake is ready to take the next step – the big step – and he gets together with Ava. Jake tells Ava all about exactly how well they work together.

DOOL Spoilers: Put A Ring On It

Jake is all in where Ava is concerned, and he talks to her about everything they have in common and how well they work together. He thinks maybe they can be a power couple of sorts, and he’s idealistic and optimistic about their future together. As they are walking around Horton Town Square, they walk by a jewelry shop and he takes her in and buys an engagement ring; and proposes to her right there. But, fate may not be kind to Jake and Ava, little do they know there is danger ahead for Jake and it’s not around the corner. As Brandon Barash puts it in Soap Opera Digest, Jake hopes for a happily ever after but it may not be so happy; but it’s going to be a blast.
