Days Of Our Lives Spoilers – Dick Van Dyke Will Make Soap Opera Debut

However, Dr. Marlena Evans (Deidre Hall) has saved the day before. And with her background in hypnosis, Marlena might succeed in helping Dick’s character regain his memories. However, spoilers also reveal that the mystery man feels frustrated. And that frustration occurs for several reasons.

First, the mystery man feels that he must regain his memory quickly. And spoilers hint that he feels his life is at risk. But it also might be that Van Dyke’s character needs to recall a memory that could change his life or that of others. However, Marlena doesn’t need to work alone. Because amnesia played a role in the past for John Black (Drake Hogestyn), he could offer support as well.

DOOL Spoilers – Dick Van Dyke Wanted ‘Old People’ Role!

Dick Van Dyke landed his Days Of Our Lives role with help from a famous friend. The actor attends the same gym as series star Drake Hogestyn. And so Dick appealed to his gym buddy. “I said, ‘Don’t you have any parts for old people? Come on give me one.’ And [Drake] took me seriously and got me a part!” shared Van Dyke via People.

As the actor, 97, looks ahead to his guest star appearance on an upcoming episode of Days of Our Lives, he described what he sees as unique in the experience. “I have played old men before, but comedy old men. [This is the] first time I have ever just played my 97-year-old self.”

However, the Mary Poppins actor took time to prepare. And he viewed some different soap operas to master the delivery. Van Dyke paid special attention to dramatic scenes that need extra flair.

“Some of the people have been doing it for 20 years,” pointed out Van Dyke of his soap opera co-stars. “That’s all the homework I can do, watch one and see how they do it. The other thing, you have to hold, ‘duh duh,’ there’s the sting of music and we’ve said something exciting.”

However, the actor received help from a famous friend. All My Children alum Carol Burnett took time in a video to tell her buddy her tip. “Make sure you know all your lines, because they don’t do retakes,” suggested Carol.
